UWin ASHRAE Tour Green Sun Rising, Inc.

The University of Windsor ASHRAE Student Branch had the opportunity to visit Green Sun Rising's Renewable Energy Technology Center last month, located on Windsor's east end. Company president & founder, Klaus Dohring, gave an engaging talk on solar thermal and photovoltaic systems, discussing both their theoretical principles and system design.

Mr. Dohring showcased the wide range of solar products developed by Green Sun Rising; including the "Solar Bench", a canopied bench allowing for the charging of electronic devices outdoors, and the "Solar Buddy", a portable system that can be used as an alternative to diesel generators. The tour proved to be particularly enlightening given the degree of solar energy research conducted by Branch members at the University. Plans are in place to make visits to Green Sun Rising an annual event for the UWin ASHRAE Student Branch.

Members of the Branch pose for a group shot at the facility.
Branch treasurer, Jamie Smith, and new member, Iman Arianmehr,
present company founder & president, Klaus Dohring, with a thank-you gift.
